Each Home is Unique

Ranch

Ranches have a lot of attic space not a lot of wall area. This means that the attic is critical in ranch homes. This is actually a good thing because attics are the least expensive and most effective to insulate. Walls can only contain R-13 to R-15, depending on the insulation types. Most attics can easily handle R-60. Ranch homes are also easier to insulate because they are only 1 story and do not require ladders to work on. In short, they are the least expensive home type to insulate. Get a custom quote for your home...

Two Story

2 story homes have a lot of wall space and just a little attic space. The attic is still most important because heat rises and it is the most cost effective part of the house to insulate. That said, the walls are pretty important in 2 story houses because they are such a large percentage of the exterior area of the house. We can insulate your house in 2 stages if need be - the attic first, then the walls later. Get a custom quote for your home...

Cape Cod / Half Story

Is your top floor freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer? We can help that. The old way to insulate this type of home was to staple insulation in the roofline, which is called a hot roof. This is not ideal because it only allows a maximum of R-13 to R-19 while the Department of Energy recommends R-49 up to R-60. The solution is more labor intensive than a standard attic, but extremely effective. We insulate the storage area or attic floor, sloped ceiling and the top of the ceiling with blown insulation. The sidewalls, or knee walls, are the most important part. They get R-13 fiberglass insulation covered with a radiant barrier. The radiant barrier does 3 things. It adds an additional R-4, lets the fiberglass perform at its full R-value, and reflects 97% of radiant energy that hits it. This reflects the heat from the roof in the summer back into the attic, and the heat from the house back into the house in the winter. Get a custom quote for your home...

Split Level

Split level homes make very good use of their square footage. The 2 major problems with split level houses are living space over the garage and "bump outs" in the front and rear that stick out 1-3 feet from the rest of the house. Bedrooms over the garage are usually cold. We can help with that. The bump outs are typically very chilly parts of the house, we can reduce that as well. Get a custom quote for your home...
